2021 Olive Picking and Grand Cru Olive Oil Dinner
When Summer gives way to Autumn, one of the most exciting times at Borgo di Vagli is the Olive Harvest in October. Nature sets the date, we just need to carefully check when olives are ready to be picked. What happens afterwards is enrolling a team of brave pickers, placing lines of olive harvesting nets, collecting all the tools needed, from ladders to rakes, and then everything can start. Each year the harvest brings lots of expectations and hopes, each year we trust it will be a great one for our “green gold”. Making reliable predictions is hard but the satisfaction when you taste the newly pressed olive oil on a crispy bruschetta goes beyond words.
After all the efforts made, the time comes for celebrating the harvest and what is better than a Grand Cru Olive Oil Dinner at our Trattoria? The meals are finely selected to make the intense olive oil flavors stand out and to offer all our Guests an epicurean experience.
Some of our Friends, Owners and Members have lived these precious moments in the past and some will be lucky enough to do it this year. For those who have not done it yet, we invite you to note it down in the agenda for next year!
“We Are Humans” is the theme of Cortona On The Move 2021 (until October 3rd). We are all protagonists: human beings take centerstage once again, in their daily life, relationships, affections and shared experiences and values. A tribute to the ordinary and extraordinary aspects of our human condition between intimate and public dimension.
This autumn, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence will host a major exhibition by Jeff Koons opening on 2 October 2021 (until January 30th, 2022). Curated by Arturo Galansino and Joachim Pissarro, the exhibition will bring to Florence a wide selection of the most celebrated works by Jeff Koons who, from the mid-70s to the present day, has forged a reputation as one of the most important and controversial figures in the contemporary art world.
Developed in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition entitled Jeff Koons. Shine will host loans from some of the world’s most important collections and museums, exploring the concept of “shine” in Jeff Koons’s work – an ambiguous idea that oscillates between the dualities of being and seeming, or truth and sensation.
An art itinerary consisting of the monumental sculptures of Helidon Xhixha will cross the most evocative landscapes and spaces of San Quirico d'Orcia, Val d'Orcia and Siena, to celebrate 50 years of "Forme nel Verde", the longest-running international sculpture exhibition born in 1971 from an intuition of Mario Guidotti, collector, art lover and profound connoisseur of modern and contemporary art.
REFLEXES is the title of the exhibition curated by Klodian Dedja and with the artistic direction of Carlo Pizzichini, which sees the installation of 12 works by Helidon Xhixha in some of the most beautiful places in all of Tuscany until November 2nd: the extraordinary Horti Leonini of San Quirico sixteenth-century gardens designed by Michelangelo and located in the historic center, the Chigi square in San Quirico, the famous Cipressini and the Vitaleta chapel on the Via Francigena, the sixteenth-century basin in the heart of Bagno Vignoni and the Piazza del Duomo in Siena.
The monumental forms in polished and polished steel by Helidon Xhixha, which shape the light and its reflections, drag the extraordinary landscapes of the Val d'Orcia, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2004, into a luminous embrace.

The beauty of fatigue and the thrill of conquest Eroica is more than a cycling event; it is a lifestyle. It’s what leads us to face our difficulties with tenacity and patience and appreciate times of struggle as a challenge gratefully accepted. Riding vintage bikes on gravel roads recalls the heroic cycling of Coppi and Bartali and recovers the core values of a great sport still able to fulfil the needs of today through the experience of fatigue in all its raw grandeur. More than just a challenge, Eroica also seeks to reawaken a taste for adventure, the unexpected and the journey. A way to relaunch cycling, create respect between riders and inspire new models for sports and life.
L'Eroica was born in 1997 in Gaiole in Chianti, a small village in the province of Siena, where creator Giancarlo Brocci, together with 92 hunters of feelings and emotions - as he called them - started the first edition of a magical cycling event; an event combining challenging routes, magnificent landscapes and unforgettable refreshments in a unique way.
